What ERPVE is
ERPVE stands for Emergency Response Preparedness & Verification for Environments. It is a structured assessment and certification programme for individual properties: residential towers, offices, malls, hotels and mixed-use developments.
An assessment records what a responder actually encounters after the entrance: access and security protocols, building management, lifts, floors and internal routing, and whether an AED is genuinely available on site at the moment it is needed. Each property is scored, gaps are listed, and recurring reassessment keeps that picture current.
Why the entrance matters
Survival after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest depends on what happens in the first minutes. Most arrests happen at home, and in high-rise cities many of those homes are on upper floors. Every floor adds seconds; entry, security and lifts consume the window that decides the outcome.
A published Toronto cohort found survival fell as building height increased, with no survivors above floor 25 (Drennan et al., CMAJ 188(6):413–419, 2016). No building certification in general use accounts for cardiac-response readiness, so the delay inside the building stays invisible to the systems that are supposed to manage it.

Certification on multi-year, tier-based contracts, with recurring reassessment, monitoring and maintenance so the data stays current.
